Waypoint

Methodology Based, Interview Driven Project Guide

Let’s Face it: developing organizational maturity around project and program management is not easy. Many organizations have struggled to build large and complex internal project management methodologies, only to have these methodologies disjointed from their EPM platform and training efforts. This is where the Waypoint product offering shines. It provides a low cost solution that can integrate your proprietary methodology with Microsoft project in way that dramatically simplifies project management compliance and methodology training in your organization.

Like “Turbo Tax” for Project Management, Waypoint guides users through a customized series of questions, which when completed populates a production project plan, ready for use. More specifically, Waypoint is an XML based project guide customized to the unique business processes, project types, and governance approach of a given organization. This project plan will be populated from a template library based on your project types and will include all the control documents, process steps, milestones, phase gates, and data objects, codes or flags that your organization tracks. Because the Waypoint is developed around your methodology, all project management activities important to your organization will be embedded into the project guide, which will dramatically reduce the time and complexity of creating and maintaining a project plan for your project managers.

Key Elements of Waypoint

Make it Easier: Will Microsoft Project support project management as it is practiced in your organization? That depends very much on the behavior of your project managers as they interact with the tool. A basic axiom of EPM: the easier it is for PMs to follow your methodology the more likely that they will do it consistently. The Waypoint guide dramatically reduces the complexity for project managers.

Reduce the Cost & Risk of Training: Developing a proprietary methodology that can accommodate your unique business context can be expensive enough; but, then training all your resources on this methodology can prove truly daunting. Rather than following an expensive and ineffective ILT based model consider leveraging a technology based solution that you never have to worry about leaving.
